A management consultant since 1992, Carl emphasizes strategy and market development.  The approach is to work closely with clients in analysis, development and implementing strategy. Clients succeed with a comprehensive planning model, fresh insights and new opportunities for innovation.                        Clients include those in electronics, aerospace, instruments, medical, machine tools, paper goods, automotive, metalworking, construction equipment and materials, printing and training services.  The variety promotes a strong cross-pollination of ideas and stimulates innovation.

Carl has over twenty years of broad industry achievement.  Much of this has been with companies providing high performance, technical products and services for use in severe environments. His experience included leading companies like Fortune 500’s Union Carbide, Teledyne, Emhart, and Multi-Arc.   

Responsibilities included general management, marketing and sales management, manufacturing and engineering management. He excelled at problem solving and improving both customer and internal relationships. Using his extensive experience and organizational ability, he repeatedly turned around adverse situations and set new high marks for performance. 

Captain Clausen retired from a thirty-year active and reserve Navy career after several command tours, and he retains its “can do” spirit of challenge.  He is an active civic leader, especially in the areas of economic development and planning.   

Carl holds an MBA from Indiana University.  He earned an MS in metallurgy from Stevens Institute of Technology and BS in engineering from Northwestern University.  He completed the Strategy and Policy school at the Naval War College and is a student of history.
