BeadleNet SOHO 2000

Share the wealth of your cable or DSL modem across your small network.

By Bill Machrone — August 16, 1999

Cable modems and DSL lines are proliferating faster than anyone predicted--and so are home and SOHO networks. Sharing that bandwidth among your machines is the logical, inviting thing to do. If only it were easy. Software solutions, such as WinGate, WinProxy, CommSocks, ShareTheNet, and others abound, but they require configuring a machine with two network cards. Routers do the job in hardware, but have been too expensive and too complex for small peer networks.

The BeadleNet SOHO 2000 joins a new generation of router/firewall/access-sharing devices tailored to small networks. These devices are less expensive, small and unobtrusive, and most important, they're easy to install and maintain. Unlike some competitors, the SOHO 2000 ($399 direct for four users) also includes a four-port hub.

Beadlenet 2000.jpg (18907 bytes) Versatile: You can buy the SOHO 2000 with support for 4, 10, 25, or 175 users.

Bill Machrone calls BeadlNet one of the best networking products of the year.
